This has really been a great summer. Luckily, I found a job where I could work from home. That made life a little less stressful. Chris and I went on a nice, relaxing vacation to Wildwood a week ago. Highlights: We basically witnessed a divorce going on a couple rooms from ours at the hotel. Things were being thrown around and the couple's poor son was screaming at his parents to stop. The family was gone the next morning. Chris won big in AC. Yay! Stumpo's has the best garlic knots EVER! I want to drive to Cape May just for the garlic knots. I think Chris must have eaten half of the snow crabs in the ocean by the time our vacation was over.
When we got back from vacation, I had my new teacher orientation. There was basically nothing new to learn, since I've already worked in the district. The second day was helpful because we had six hours to work on our classroom websites. Day 3 we had a bus tour of Piscataway which was a little hokey, but I did learn a lot of history about Piscataway and why schools there are named such funny names like Connackamack and Quibbletown. Then we got to set up our classrooms in the afternoon. Mine is set up the way I want it, I just have to decorate now. Ugh, and laminate. I have so many posters I have to laminate.
I've been having dreams every other day about things going wrong the first day of school. I dreamt my students wouldn't like me. I dreamt another teacher was in my classroom telling me I couldn't teach the way I wanted to. I dreamt my students didn't follow any rules. Lol. I am nervous about the first day, but I know I'll be fine. I've been doing so much to get ready and be prepared, but I still have a lot to do in the next two weeks to be completely ready.

OMG I am sooooooo excited. I have an official contract for a third grade position in Piscataway for next year!!!! I am so happy and relieved. All my stressing and worrying can be over! :) I can't wait to set up my classroom.

So I applied for a job in Plainfield a month ago and didn't get the job because I didn't have my certification yet. I've been subbing in Piscataway for a while. $95 a day isn't too bad...I'm making ok money.

Well, today while I was subbing, I got a call from the main office. They said they had the principal from another school in Piscataway on the phone. The principal told me I did a good job subbing for one of the fifth grade classes last week and she's been hearing good things about me from other teachers. The teacher of that fifth grade class I subbed for is leaving. Her last day was Friday. The principal asked if I would be interested in subbing for the rest of the week and hopefully for the rest of the year in that classroom. If they like me and I do well, this could turn into a permanent position. I'm so excited. I can't wait to be in charge of my own classroom! I hope all goes well. :)

Oh and I'm turning 23 tomorrow! What a great birthday present. :)

This past week I have officially completed my last class at Kean University! I still have to finish my student teaching....but I never again have to deal with the parking or the rules against walking on the grass or advisement or the sucky administration! well unless I decide to go back to Kean for my masters....haven't decided where I want to go yet...but thats not for a few years anyway. So Yay!!!!!!!!!!

And its almost Christmas! :)

Finally finished with my last spring semester at Kean. :) All I have left are two classes in the summer, then student teaching in the Fall. Tomorrow I go for my interview with the principal of the school that I'll be doing my student teaching at. I'm not really too nervous about it. I'm looking forward to being finished with school finally, but it's also a little scary cause that means I'll need to find a real job in a school. This summer I'm going to start sending out my resume to districts that I want to try to find a job in. Hopefully something will pop up.
My job at the daycare is even more fun then I anticipated. On friday, we all dressed up in sombreros and dress-up clothes and put on a cinco de mayo parade, shaking some maracas around. It was the cutest thing ever.
Today I have a barbeque with my family, then me and chris will probably go see spiderman :).....what I'm really looking forward to is the third Pirates movie =D can't wait for that one.....but spiderman should be really good too lol.

I haven't been as happy as I have been the last few monthes since middle school. My life is finally coming together...I have a wonderful boyfriend, I'm doing well in school and I'm starting an awesome job....no more candyland hell hole. I found a new place that is hiring me full time over the summer to teach a class myself. The class has three 3 year old boys in it and thats it lol....but I have to write up lesson plans each day for them and the pay is better then what I got at candyland. I'm so excited about starting there...the kids seem really smart and interested in what I have to teach them. I like the fact that the place uses a curriculum....unlike my old job and the school that I'm doing my junior field work in. I'm very excited.
But anyway....everything is great :)

Ah, five more weeks until the end of the semester. Then only three more classes to go in my college education. The past four years have gone by so quickly, but I'm glad it's almost over.
I ran into my Dad's old band last night...that was unexpected. Too bad my dad was already in bed and didn't want to come out to see them.
I really have nothing to talk about on this thing lol
life is good, I honestly can't remember a time that I've been happier. :)

Kean, wtf is wrong with you?!
Why are there classes today? Not even a delayed opening! Nothing! And we close when there is even the slightest hint of an impending snow storm. Now, when it's icing outside and the roads are shit, we have classes. wtf.
I got about 10 minutes away from my house and my car was skidding and not stopping at lights...so I decided there's no way I would be able to make it all the way to Kean and back without killing myself. I'm not going to risk my life for a class.
The snow is fun though. I think I might go do some shoveling lol.

Happy Valentine's Day. :)

EDIT: Yeah so now classes are canceled after 3:30...of course after my class is over.
